This thing is almost as bad for the global stability, as the Brexit. Geopolitics are changing.

Nah, this conflict was inevitable and should have been expected by the markets. It's been simmering for a few years now.

With Erdogan on top, Turkey wasn’t really heading in the right direction. So let’s wait this out, something good may come out of this.

Agreed - Islamic countries don’t do well with ego-maniacal rulers. Army might take them back in a democratic direction.

PM Binali Yildirim earlier denounced an “illegal action” by a military “group”, stressing it was not a coup. He said that the government remained in charge. ( BBC )

Turkey has a coup/attempted coup every couple decades.

From what I’ve read, the Turkish military has historically been the backer of a democratic secular government, and have overthrown leaders who try to go away from that a handful of times. Most recently in 1997 I guess. Erdogan was certainly on his way to a dictatorship, so performing a coup while he and his top leaders are out of the country makes sense.
